RITR...We're Finished!

We.  Are.  Done.  I'm curious to see what you thought of Racing in the Rain.  I found these generic questions I thought might be a nice way to wrap up a book.  You can answer them all, just a couple, or maybe you have a random thought you'd like to add.  Let me hear from you!
  1. Which character do you like the most and why? The least and why?
  2. What passage from the book stood out to you?
  3. Are there situations and/or characters you can identify with, if so how?
  4. Did you learn something you didn’t know before?
  5. Do you feel as if your views on a subject have changed by reading this text?
  6. Have you had a life changing revelation from reading this text?
  7. What major emotion did the story evoke in you as a reader?
  8. At what point in the book did you decide if you liked it or not? What helped make this decision?
  9. Name your favorite thing overall about the book. Your least favorite?
  10. If you could change something about the book what would it be and why?
  11. Describe what you liked or disliked about the writer’s style?

  1. 1. My favorite character was Enzo (duh), but that's not to say I thought he was perfect, either. Enzo was wise, well spoken, comical, and sweet....but, he was still a "man", and I thought he could sometimes come across sort of illogical or one sided. It was something...I just can't quite put my finger on it. On the other hand, I, surprisingly, was not in love with Eve. She was definitely not my "least favorite", but I did find my reaction to her interesting. I couldn't connect with her for some reason.

    2. The passage that stood out for me was the alleged rape scene. I thought it was weak. Come on...Denny was too tired to stop a young girl from stripping down and advancing on him?! I wasn't buying it. At least make him drunk, or wounded, or something more believable!

    3. I could identify with Denny and his relationship with Enzo. My dog(s) and I are INSEPARABLE!

    7. The major emotion evoked in me while reading was sympathy. I constantly felt sorry for Enzo's frustration of not being able to communicate as accurately as he wanted with humans. I think about that often in regards to my own dogs. This is probably not the "right" answer to this question ;-)

    8. & 11. The strongest aspect of this book, in my opinion, was the writer's writing style and the human-animal connection. The book was super easy and fast to read. There was nothing prolific or mind-blowing about the story, but it was what I like to call a "brain candy" read.

    10. If I could change one thing about the book it would character development. I was not sold on Eve's and Denny's love, or Eve's love for Enzo, and I felt like a barely knew the little girl. All of that could have been stronger.
